Cancellation Process and Charges for British Gas HomeCare Policy

British Gas allows you to cancel your HomeCare cover at any point, though it’s important to note that a cancellation charge may apply.

Cancelling at Any Time

  • British Gas permits policy cancellation at any time, but cancellation charges may apply.
  • Initiate the cancellation process by contacting British Gas directly.

Cancelling within the 14-Day Cool-Off Period

  • Every HomeCare policy includes a 14-day cool-off period starting from when your agreement begins or renews, or when you receive your policy documents, whichever is later.
  • A full refund will be provided if cancellation occurs within this period, unless any work has already been carried out under the policy, in which case cancellation charges may apply.

Cancelling after the 14-Day Period

  • If you choose to cancel after the 14-day period but before the end of your policy term, the cancellation will take effect from the date you notify British Gas.
  • A refund will be issued for the remaining time already paid for.
  • If any work has been performed under your policy, cancellation charges may apply.

Cancelling Your Renewal Quote

  • If you don’t wish to renew your policy after receiving a renewal quote, cancellation can be managed via your online account.

Direct Debit Cancellation

  • Cancelling your Direct Debit through your bank does not automatically cancel your agreement with British Gas.
  • If you stop your Direct Debit without informing British Gas, they will attempt to collect the payment owed. If no payment is received, they will cancel your agreement no less than 30 days after the payment failure.
  • Cancellation charges may apply in this scenario.

Cancellation Charges

  • Cancellation charges may apply if the agreement is cancelled (by you or British Gas) and British Gas has already performed work for you since the policy was bought or renewed.
