Vinted’s return and refund policy is centered around its Buyer Protection system. This system covers purchases made using Vinted’s specific transaction buttons (‘Add to cart’ and ‘Proceed to checkout’). If a buyer receives an item that is damaged, significantly not as described, or inauthentic, they are eligible for a refund under this protection. However, it’s important to note that transactions completed without using these buttons are not covered by Buyer Protection.
Returns and Refunds Process
- Return Request: If an item is damaged or significantly not as described, a return request must be lodged within 4 days after the order is marked as “received”.
- Request Review:
- If the issue is with authenticity or damage during transit, the request is reviewed by Vinted Support.
- For other significant discrepancies (like color, size, stains), the request is initially sent to the seller for review.
- Finalization and Refund: If the request is approved, the refund is processed once the returned item is confirmed delivered back to the seller.
For situations where a buyer is simply not satisfied with the item (e.g., style, fit), they may still request a return, but this will not be covered under Buyer Protection. If the seller rejects such a return request, the order is finalized and the seller is paid.
A refund includes the price of the items, the shipping fees paid at the time of order (if all items are returned), the variable part of the Buyer Protection fee, the fixed part of the Buyer Protection fee (under certain conditions), and any applicable taxes. However, shipping costs for returning the item and the cost of return packaging are not refunded.
Timing of Refunds
Refunds are issued within 24 hours via the same payment method used for the purchase. The actual deposit into the bank account can take 5-10 business days, depending on the payment method used.
Returning an Item
Once a return request is approved, the buyer has 3 days to ship the items back to the seller. The buyer is responsible for the return shipping costs. Vinted strongly recommends using a shipping method with tracking. The buyer should not reuse the original shipping label and must confirm the return address with the seller. The refund is issued after the seller confirms receipt of the returned items.
